Ronald E. Smith, of North Dighton, passed away after a long illness on June 25, 2018 at the age of 75.
He was the beloved husband of Doris (Bernier) Smith for 56 years. He is also survived by his children, David Smith of Hanceville, AL and Darrin Smith of Taunton. He was the grandfather of Ellison, Jacob and Emma Smith and the brother of the late Audry Laine.
Ron was born in Taunton, son of the late Raymond and Bertha (Campbell) Smith.
Mr. Smith was employed as a computer systems analyst for 49 years. Before attending Bristol Community College and Massasoit Community College in Brockton, he played an active role in the family business, R.H. Smith and Son in Taunton.
He enjoyed retirement with Doris by travelling the globe and residing in N Fort Myers, Florida during the winter months. He loved to laugh and had many friends. He enjoyed photography, art and camping. His love of country music and line dancing allowed him to progress to several CMT appearances on Club Dance in Knoxville, TN. He will be missed greatly!
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 from 11 am to 12 Noon, with a celebration of his life beginning at 12 noon in the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton. (Additional parking with handicap access is located on the north side of the funeral home.) Interment will be held privately.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to The Joslin Diabetes Center in Ron’s memory.
