Ronald "Ronnie" Silvia, Sr.

Ronald “Tugboat” Silvia, Sr., age 82, of Taunton, MA passed away on Wednesday afternoon, February 21, 2024, at his home surrounded by the love, comfort, and care of his family.

Ronald was the husband of the late Sheila (DelSolio) Silvia for 54 loving years.  Born in Dighton, MA one of four children born to the late Stella (Bealieu) Silvia.

Ronnie was a hardworking man with a tremendous work ethic, the Owner and Operator of R.J. Silvia & Sons Construction. As a local businessman for many years, he provided the Taunton area with the utmost quality service, with honesty, integrity and respect when completing all sewer & septic installation and repairs.  In addition to his robust laugh, adding humor to his profession with his best slogan of “#1 Making Way For #2”.

Ronnie was a member of the Holy Family Parish, Portuguese American Civics Club, Italian Naturalization Club, and the longest member of the YMCA of 63 years.

Ronnie started each week at Holy Family Parish greeting parishioners at Sunday Mass.  In his spare time, Ronnie enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, attending numerous motorcycle rendezvous and bike runs in several states.  He enjoyed moving his feet while dancing at the Sand Bar & VFW.  He could be found any Sunday at The Pines listening to live bands hanging out with all his friends.  He enjoyed attending the meat raffles at the Atlantic Café.  He loved fishing & boating with his family.  He also enjoyed racing at Seekonk Speedway.  For years he was a fixture at Colonial Donut.  He loved taking rides to the Plymouth Boat Ramp with his long-time love Sheila.  Let’s not forget his passion for food.  Most of all he loved to eat!

Ronnie is survived by his loving children, Ronald Silvia, Jr and wife Robbin, Kelley Correira and husband Edward, Shawn Silvia, Duane Silvia and wife Diana. Grandfather of Jesse Correira, Luke Correira, Brianna Emond, Colby Correira, Mackenzie Silvia, Katie Mae Correira, Luke Silvia, and Paige Silvia, great-grandfather of Logan Correira and Madison Mae Emond.  Ronnie was the brother of Cynthia Smith, Frederick Fisher, and of the late Michael Beaulieu.  Ronnie was the father of the late Todd F. Silvia.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at 10am in Holy Family Church, 372 Middleboro Ave., East Taunton.

Relatives and friends may meet directly at church at 9:45am

Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, E Britannia St., Taunton.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, February 26, 2024 from 4pm to 7pm in the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square), Taunton MA

Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.
