Roque C. Avelar, age 100 of Taunton, passed away on December 15, 2022 at Life Care Center of Raynham.
He was the beloved husband of the late Maria (daSilveira) Avelar.
Born in Flores, Azores, he was the son of the late Joao and Maria (Silveira) Avelar.
Mr. Avelar was employed with the former Copper Craft Company as a Machine operator.
He enjoyed soccer, watching all sports and was a member of the Taunton Sports and the Holy Ghost. He cherished time spent with his family.
Mr. Avelar is survived by his loving children; Jose O. Avelar, and his wife, Grace, of Taunton, Maria O. Sebastiao, of East Taunton, and Renato O. Avelar, and his wife, Monica, of Berkley, five grandchildren, Elizabeth “Liz” Aguiar, Jenny, Danny, Lindsey, and Lexi Avelar; four great grandchildren, Noah, Brody, Jayden, and Sophia Avelar; 2 step-grandchildren Xander and Mateo and several nieces and nephews. He was the father in law of the late Joao Sebastiao and brother of the late John, Jose C., Guilherme, Herminio, Antonio, Vasco, Jose V., Rufino, Norberto and the late Gilberto Avelar.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, December 19, 2022 from 4 to 7pm in the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton (at Saint Mary’s Square)
Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.
Mr. Avelar’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 20th at 8:30 am, from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton (at Saint Mary’s Square) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am, in Saint Anthony Church, 126 School Street, Taunton.
