Rose (Santos) Amaral, the wife of the late Philip R. Amaral, died at Morton Hospital on Oct. 24, 2009.
A lifelong resident of the area, she was 95 years old.
Born and raised in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Rose (Candida) Santos.
A Raynham resident most recently, she was educated in Taunton schools, and was later employed by Marian Manor, where she worked for many years as a nurse's aide, retiring in 1972.
Mrs. Amaral enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and oil painting, as well as other arts and crafts.
She also enjoyed dancing and duckpin bowling.
Survivors include a son, Ronald J. Amaral of Norton; 3 daughters, Phyllis J. Anderson of Worcester, Barbara Elkington and her husband Benjamin of Kennebunkport, ME, and Rosemarie Haselton and her husband Gerald of Taunton; a sister, Helen Plante of Raynham; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, the late Elaine Barber, and several siblings.
The family will be receiving visitors at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton, on Wednesday, Oct. 28th from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
A funeral mass will follow at St. Ann Church Raynham at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Taunton.
