RAYNHAM- Rose (Soares) Bernardo, age 93, quietly passed away at her home after a short illness on Thursday, June 8, 2023. She was the wife of the late Anibal “Nebbs” Bernardo. She was the daughter of the late Domingo and Palmira (Vaz) Soares. She is survived by her daughter and caregiver: Donna M. (Bernardo) Leal and her husband Francisco of Raynham, her daughter: Diane Thielker and her husband Robert of Raynham, her daughter: Patricia Dorr and her husband Frank of Crown Point, NY, and her son: Joseph Bernardo and his wife Elizabeth (Betty) of Raynham, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She also leaves behind her sister: Mary Agrella of Taunton, her sister: Theresa Padula and her husband John of Taunton, her sister: Elizabeth McWilliams of Middleboro, her brother: Alfred Soares and his wife Diane of East Taunton.
She is predeceased by her brothers and sisters: Dom Soares and his wife Lydia, Joseph Soares and his wife Maureen, Helen Rogers and her husband Anthony, Margaret Walker and her husband Francis “Dixie” , and brother-in-law’s John Agrella and Darrell McWilliams.
Rose grew up in Taunton and attended Taunton Public Schools. She had been a resident of Raynham since 1976. Years ago, Rose was employed by the Eureka Company, Norwell Manufacturing, and Hesse Eastern. Rose always loved going with her cousin Rose Cabral to Bingo every week and to Foxwoods with her husband. She enjoyed camping trips with family and being down the Cape, where she went clamming in Onset. She also loved lobster and was named “THE LOBSTER QUEEN” by friends and family. Rose was quite an artist, decorative painter, and enjoyed stenciling while helping her daughter Donna, at her stencil shop. Rose was a good cook and proud of it, when making some favorite dishes like spaghetti and meatballs and Portuguese soup. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, word searches, and playing cards with the grandkids, especially SKIP-BO.
Rose’s visitation with funeral will be held on Tuesday , June 13,2023 at 9am followed by a funeral service beginning at 10am in the Chapel of the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton.
Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery, E. Brittania St., Taunton.
Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.
