Rose (Soares) Martin

EAST TAUNTON - Rose (Soares) Martin, wife of the late John Martin, died at Morton Hospital on Aug. 15, 2011.
She was 85.
Born in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late Antone and Frances P. Soares, and sister of the late Francis "Frankie" Soares.
She was educated in Taunton schools, and was later employed by the former BayBank as an office worker.
A communicant of Holy Family Church, Rose was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
She loved to watch mysteries and travel shows, the company of her dogs, and being with her family.
She also enjoyed cooking and was quite the cook in her day.
In her younger days, she enjoyed knitting and ceramics as a hobby.
Most recently, Rose enjoyed sending and receiving postcards from around the globe through postcrossing.com, with the help of her granddaughter.
Since she could not travel much later in life, she enjoyed seeing the world through the eyes of others and was fascinated at how different each country and its people are.
Going out with her family and friends was also something Rose appreciated.
She spent many days chatting over coffee with family and friends about the "good old days".
She was also a member of the Holy Ghost Society of E. Taunton.
She leaves her daughter, Linda Martin of E. Taunton; her granddaughter, Angela Smith of E. Taunton; a nephew, Francis Soares of Dighton; and many cousins, relatives and friends.
Family and friends will gather at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Tuesday, Aug. 30th at 9 a.m.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Church, E. Taunton at 10:30 a.m.
Visitors may call on the family at the funeral home from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., prior to the funeral mass.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
