Sophia Martins

Sophia (Bartelomeu) Martins, age 85 of Taunton, passed away on July 10, 2026 at Morton Hospital.

She was the beloved wife of Manuel Martins.

Sophia was born in Madeira, Portugal.

For many years, Mrs. Martins was employed as a hard working factory worker. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and spending quality time with her family.

Besides her beloved husband Manuel of over 56 years, she is survived by a loving son Anthony Martins, a brother Manuel DaCosta and a late sister Maria Bartelomeu.

Sophia’s funeral with visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 8:30am with a funeral service to begin at 10am in the Chapel of the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton.

Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
