Thelma A. (Costa) Pierce, age 95 of Dighton, passed away on December 28, 2017.
She was the beloved wife of more than 50 years of the late Edward A. Pierce, Sr.
Thelma was born in Dighton, a daughter of the late Manuel and Eva (Correia) Costa of Pico and Faial Islands, Açores, Portugal.
Mrs. Pierce worked as a School Cook for the Dighton School District, lovingly serving thousands of children for over 20 years.
For many years she led loving family gatherings at their home. She travelled with Edward to Europe, California, Minnesota, and Hawaii. She especially enjoyed the company of her many dancing partners and family friends.
Thelma was the loving mother of Edward A. Pierce, Jr. of Somerset, Massachusetts and Barry A. Costa-Pierce of Biddeford, Maine. She was the grandmother of Duane E. Pierce of Collegeville, Pennsylvania, Li’a K. Costa-Pierce of Wakefield, Rhode Island, Sierra S. Costa-Pierce of Unity, Maine, and great grandmother of Amanda Pierce and Lacie Pierce, both of Collegeville, Pennsylvania.
Thelma’s funeral with visitation will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at 2 pm with a funeral service to begin at 5 pm in the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) in Taunton.
(Additional parking with handicap access is located on the north side of the funeral home.)
Interment will be privately held in Cedar Knoll Cemetery, East Taunton.
