RAYNHAM - Urselina P. de Melo Bonanca, wife of the late Paulo S. Bonanca, died at Morton Hospital & Medical Center on March 14, 2010.
She was 86.
Born in St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Manuel R. and Maria (Medeiros) Rebelo de Melo.
She moved to the area in 1974.
Mrs. Bonanca was employed as an assembler for Texas Instruments for several years, before retiring in 1985.
She was adept at arts and crafts, including embroidery and painting on glass, and was well known for her skills.
A communicant of St. Anthony Church and devoted to Santo Cristo, she attended many prayer meetings and traveled to various parishes throughout the country, making capes for Santo Cristo statues.
She leaves two daughters, Susana B. Matos and her husband Jose of Palm Coast, FL, and Carmen Chaves and her husband Joe of Raynham; five grandchildren, Susan Macedo, Phillip and Russell Matos, and Matthew and Katlyn Chaves; and four great grandchildren, Cameron and Brooke Macedo, Owen Matos and Savanna Chaves.
She was also the mother of the late Pelagio M. Bonanca.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Friday, March 19th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, March 18th from 5 to 8 p.m.
