Victor Soares, 84, of Taunton passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on February 3rd, 2019.
He was the beloved husband of Maria Filomena (Tavares) Soares, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage.
Born in Nordeste, Sao Miguel, Acores, Victor was a son of the late Antonio and Teresa Soares. For many years he worked as a ring polisher for Balfour in Attleboro. Victor loved reading, especially Portuguese newspapers, and was a devoted fan of Benfica.
Besides his wife, Victor is survived by his daughters, Fatima Avelar and her husband Pedro of Taunton and Susan Cookson of Taunton and her companion Gil Leite of Pawtucket, RI; brothers, Joseph Soares of Taunton, Luis Soares of Fall River and Mario Soares of Sao Miguel, Acores; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Thursday, February 7th at 8:30am from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, with Mass of Christian Burial to follow in St. Andrew the Apostle Church, Kilmer Ave., at 10:00am. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours Wednesday from 5-8pm.
