Vincent Roy Malaguti

Vincent R. Malaguti “The Chief” 92, of North Dighton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at his home.  He was the husband of the late Hilda L. (Westgate) Malaguti, married 65 years before her passing in 2013.

Born in Plymouth, MA, he was the son of the late Columbo and Madeline Malaguti.

He served his country proudly, entering the United States Navy in 1943, retiring after serving 20 years as Chief Petty Officer, Damage Control in 1963.   His decorations include five Good Conduct medals, American Theatre Medal, European Theatre, Asiatic- Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Occupation Medal, China Service Medal and the National Defense Medal, He also earned the Korean service Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, United Nation Medal, Armed Forces Expedition Medal and the Sigman Ree Presidential Unit Citation

Vincent continued his career as a union carpenter for most of his life until his retirement. He was a member of the Boston Local of the New England Carpenters Union.

He was very crafty always puttering around in his shop.  He enjoyed building ship models and lighthouse lamp posts.  He and his wife enjoyed playing cards with friends,  dancing and spending time at the Taunton and Somerset Yacht Clubs.  Boating was a big part of his life.

Mr. Malaguti is survived by his children, Sharon Araujo, of Dighton, Pamela Jefferson, and her husband Dorian, of North Dighton, Debra Dennen, and her husband, Michael of Sagamore, and Linda McCarron, and her husband, William, of Taunton,  Ronald Malaguti, and his wife, Patricia, of Dighton; brothers, Harold, of Kingston, Dave and his wife Leanne of New Hampshire and Charles and his wife Robin of Plymouth, sixteen grandchildren; twenty five great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and dear friends. He was the father of the late Bruce, Roy, and Donald Malaguti and brother of the late Donald Malaguti and Catherine Sullivan.

Vincent’s visiting hours will be held on Tuesday , October 16, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, in the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton (at Saint Mary’s Square)

(Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home)

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Vincent’s Interment with military honors on Wednesday , October 17, 2018 at 11:00 am, at the West Dighton Christian Church Cemetery, North Dighton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory can be made to charity of one’s choice.
