TAUNTON - Virgilio S. Pestana, the husband of Albertina (DaSilvia) Pestana, died at Longmeadow of Taunton on January 4, 2010.
He was 68.
Born in Funchal, Madeira Island, he was the son of the late Joao and Maria (de Conceicao) Pestana.
He moved to the Taunton area in 1980.
Mr. Pestana was employed by the former Excel Foods Co. as a food processor, and also by the Wilshire Lighting Co. as a buffer.
He retired seven years ago due to disability.
A member of the Luso American Pentecostal Church of Taunton, Mr. Pestana was a musician and played the clarinet in Taunton area bands.
He also enjoyed gardening and fishing.
Besides his wife of Taunton, he leaves four sons, Rui A. and Jose S. Pestana, both of Taunton, and Duarte N. and Virgilio Pestana, both of England; two daughters, Anabella and Marta Pestana, both of Taunton; a stepson, Richard B. Faulkner of Taunton; two brothers, Juvenal and Joao Pestana, both of Taunton; fifteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling Hours will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton, on Wednesday, Jan. 6th from 5 to 8 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
