Virginio Carlos Sardinha, devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, successful businessman, and beloved patriarch, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026, at the age of 80.
Born on November 4, 1945, in Ponta Garça, São Miguel, Azores, Portugal, Virginio was the eldest of thirteen children born to João and Teresa Sardinha. Growing up on his family's dairy farm, he learned the values of hard work, perseverance, faith, and the importance of family—principles that would guide him throughout his remarkable life.
In 1970, Virginio married the love of his life, Mary C. Sardinha. Together they built a beautiful marriage filled with unwavering love, devotion, and partnership, creating a home where family was always at the center of everything. Their marriage was one of enduring love, mutual respect, and countless cherished memories.
Virginio was a proud and loving father to Virginio Jr. (Miosotiz) Sardinha and Steven (Ginger-Lee) Sardinha. Nothing brought him greater joy than watching his family grow. He was a deeply devoted grandfather to Tyler Giordani, Angelo Giordani, Trinity-Lee Sardinha, Aria Angelina Sardinha, Virginio III Sardinha, and Vincenzio Julian Sardinha. His grandchildren were among his greatest blessings, and he treasured every moment spent with them, always offering his wisdom, encouragement, unconditional love, and a story that would leave everyone smiling.
In addition to his beloved wife, children, and grandchildren, Virginio is lovingly remembered by his brothers and sisters: João Jose Sardinha, Natalia Medeiros, Maria da Conceição Silva, Manuel Luis Sardinha, J. Fernando Sardinha, Maria Ines Couto, Dinarte Sardinha, Rui Sardinha, Paulo Sardinha, Teresa Mazon, Mario Sardinha, and Sergio Sardinha, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by his love and generosity.
After immigrating to the United States, Virginio embraced the opportunities this country offered with determination and an extraordinary work ethic. He fulfilled the American dream by becoming a successful business owner, operating Dunkin' Donuts franchises throughout Massachusetts. Through years of dedication and sacrifice, he built not only a thriving business but also a lasting legacy of integrity, perseverance, and generosity that inspired everyone who knew him.
To those fortunate enough to know him, Virginio was much more than a hardworking businessman. He was the heart of every family gathering, happiest when surrounded by those he loved. A gifted storyteller, he delighted in sharing memories of his childhood in Portugal, bringing to life the adventures of growing up on a dairy farm as the eldest of thirteen children. Whether recounting humorous childhood mischief, stories of family life, or lessons learned through hard work, he had a remarkable way of transporting everyone back to another place and time. His stories were filled with laughter, wisdom, and pride in his Portuguese heritage, becoming treasured family traditions that will continue to be shared for generations.
Above all else, Virginio's greatest accomplishment was his family. He believed in caring for those he loved, leading by example, and never forgetting where he came from. He lived a life rooted in humility, kindness, generosity, unwavering faith, and devotion to his family. His quiet strength, warm smile, wonderful sense of humor, and ability to make every gathering richer with his stories created memories that will forever be cherished by those who loved him.
Virginio leaves behind a family who will forever cherish his memory and continue to honor the values he instilled in them. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy of love, faith, hard work, and family will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
He was preceded in death by his father, João Sardinha; his mother, Teresa Sardinha; and his Madrinha Maria De Jesus.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Fuller Funeral Home, 1625 Pine Ridge Road, Naples, Florida.
