Walter R. DeLawrence, Sr., age 92, of Taunton, passed away on November 4, 202 at his residence with his loving son by his side..
He was the beloved husband of the late Diana L. (Bousquin) DeLawrence.
Walter was born in Dighton, the son of the late Manuel and Mary (Perry) DeLawrence.
Before retiring at the age of 66, Mr. DeLawrence was employed as a glass installer with the former Strojny Glass Co. for over 24 years. Walter proudly served his country with the Army during the Korean Conflict as a Sergeant and was awarded the Army Occupation Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Mr. DeLawrence loved to work in his yard , fishing, enjoyed fixing things and just sitting and watching birds.
Walter is survived by a son, Walter R. DeLawrence, Jr, two sisters; Diane Howell and Jane Stigh as well as several nieces and nephews. Walter was also the loving father of the late Donna M. DeLawrence and brother of the late Arthur DeLawrence, Johnny Delawrence and the late Jimmy Delawrence.
Walter’s funeral with visitation will be held on Friday, November 18, 2022 at 8:30 am with a service to begin at 11:00 am in the chapel of the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton.
Interment with military honors will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
