Wayne Russell Doel, age 66 of Taunton, passed away on February 18, 2018 at Massachusetts General Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Wayne was born in Taunton, July 25,1951,the son of William R. Doel, and the late Shirley Tilton Doel.
Wayne graduated from Taunton High in 1969. During high school he worked for his family's business, Oak Spring Dariy Farm, delivering milk and helping out on the farm.
Before earning a Master's Degree from UMass Dartmouth in Business Administration he served his country with the Air Force during the Vietnam War.
Before retirement, Wayne was employed with Bridgewater State College as a controller and previously with UMass Dartmouth as a financial analyst. After his retirement he was employed with the Silva Funeral Home as an apprentice, also helping with the books and computers.
Besides his beloved wife Billie-Ann of over 43 years and his father William, he is survived by his loving children; Kyle W. Doel and Jaime-Lynn Rheaume and her husband Josh, all of Taunton. He was the proud grandfather of Hayden and Hadley Doel, Kaylee and Shayne Smith and step grandfather of Timothy Smith, Skylar and Logan Rheaume. Wayne was the brother of Jeffrey (Charlene) of Lakeville, Donna Griffiths (Wayne) of Ashland, WI, Kelley Doel of Natick and Kathy Lewry (David) of Taunton.
Besides spending time with his family, he enjoyed fishing, golfing, and wood working. He was also a member of the Star Players of Taunton, performing in numerous plays and shows and helped to build some of the sets for these performances.
Mr. Doel’s funeral will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 9:30 am with a funeral service to begin at 10: 30 am in the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) in Taunton. Interment with military honors will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne MA.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, February 22nd from 4 to 7pm in the Silva Funeral Home.
(Additional parking with handicap access is located on the north side of the funeral home.)
