William Costa

William Costa, husband of the late Gladys M. (Bragga) Costa, died at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston on April 20, 2009.
He was 82.
Born in Dighton, he was the son of the late Antone and Ruth (White) Costa.
Receiving his early education in Dighton, he later served with the Navy Seabees during WW II.
A self-employed welder, he owned and operated Costa's Welding Co. for over 45 years, retiring in 1991.
He also taught welding at the Upper Cape Regional High School in Bourne after receiving certification from Fitchburg State College.
Mr. Costa was a past-commander and life member of the VFW Raposa-Knott Post 2094 in Dighton and a Dighton Sewer Commissioner.
He leaves a son, William Costa, Jr., and his wife Linda of Taunton; a daughter, Donna Cunha, and her husband Wayne of Berkley; his companion, Elena Carroll of Raynham, a brother Anthony "Donald" Costa of Rumford, RI; a sister, Phyllis Zagrodney of FL; 3 grandchildren, Christopher Cunha, Ashleigh Costa, and Tracey Hill; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Costa was also the brother of the late Edwin Costa.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Thursday, April 23rd at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at St. Nicholas of Myra Church, N. Dighton at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Taunton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be on Wednesday, April 22nd from 5 to 8 pm.
