William James Deluca

October 9, 1932 — July 5, 2018

Raynham

While surrounded by his family and wonderful nursing staff, William J. DeLuca, Sr . (Bill), of the south shore area, entered eternal rest with his Savior on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at the Morton Hospital in Taunton.

Born in Boston, he was a son of the late Joseph G. and Albina M. (Guariglia) DeLuca.

He is survived by his children, Steven DeLuca, and his wife, Nancy, of West Bridgewater, Patricia DeLuca, of Newport, RI, Robert DeLuca, of Monterey, California, Carrie Buck, and her husband, Dennis, of East Bridgewater, and William DeLuca, Jr., and his wife, Claire, of Raynham; eight grandchildren, Nicholas DeLuca, and his wife, Leigh, Sam DeLuca, Jake and Tommy Buck, Sarah, Matthew, Jack, and William DeLuca; a great-granddaughter, Else DeLuca; former spouse and good friend, Carolyn Holbrook; brother, Robert DeLuca, and his wife, Patty, of Palm Springs, CA; and several nieces and nephews. William was also the brother of the late Ellen Giampietro.

Bill proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1951-1955 during the Korean War. Upon his return, he received his degree from Curry College. His outstanding work ethic and friendly demeanor earned him a successful career in car sales for many years prior to retirement.

Always dressed like a perfect gentleman, “Pop” loved sharing the holidays with his grandchildren, enjoyed celebrating birthdays, and frequently attended family gatherings throughout the year. He was an avid golfer and coin collector. Pop’s talent for dancing and singing as well as his ability to play the harmonica will always be remembered! His profound sense of humor not only brought joy and laughter into a room but also into the hearts of his grandchildren. His jovial spirit, easygoing manner, old-school style, and warm heart was adored by all. Pop will surely be missed by family, friends, and all those who had the pleasure of being in his company.

Bill’s family would like to express their gratitude for the loving care he received from All American in Raynham and the caring staff at the Morton Hospital.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to remember and celebrate William’s life with military honors on Friday , July 13, 2018, at 10:30 am, at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA. Arrangements are entrusted to the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton, MA.
