William Overton

William Terry Overton, age 92 of Norton and formerly of Greenport, NY, passed away on May 21, 2026 at the All American Assisted Living in Raynham with his loving family by his side.

He was the beloved husband of Janice (Schaefer) Overton, who he married in 1957.

Terry was born in Greenport, NY the son of the late William and Katherine (Terry) Overton.

Terry graduated from Greenport High School in 1951. He then attended Miami University in Oxford, OH graduating in 1955 with a BS in Business. He served in the US Army Counter Intelligence Corps for two years after college, and then joined IBM working for over 32 years in sales in both New York and Boston. Terry’s primary interests outside of his work was his family, his faith, his golf and staying in touch with the North Fork of Long Island through the Suffolk Times and many visits to Greenport over the years.

Besides his beloved wife of 69 years, Janice, Terry is survived by his loving children, Michael Overton of Searsmont, ME, Bruce Overton of Leland, NC and Kathy Ciliberto of Raynham. He is grandfather to Cade Overton, Laura Overton, Emily Ciliberto and Maggie Ciliberto, and 2 great- granddaughters, Wren Overton and Luna Olivo. Terry will be greatly missed by all those who were lucky enough to know him!

A memorial service will be held on June 27, 2026 at 11:00 am at the First Congregational Church “Stone Church” 785 South Main Street, Raynham MA 02767.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts made to The First Congregational Church of Raynham, in Terry’s memory, would be deeply appreciated.
