Zelia Chaves

Zelia(Andrade) Chaves, age 63 of Taunton, passed away at her residence on July 7, 2026 with her loving family by her side.

She was the beloved wife of Breno Chaves.

Born in Sao Miguel, Azores the daughter of the late Hermano and Maria (Resendes) Andrade.

Before her illness, Mrs. Chaves was the treasurer of M&R Excavating a company she and her husband owned and operated. Zelia enjoyed spending quality time with her family, gardening, shopping, fundraising to help others and was always the life of the party. She was a loving woman with a heart of gold.

Besides her husband Breno of over 42 years, she is survived by her loving children, Monique Chaves, Ryan Chaves and his wife Ashley all of Taunton, grandmother of Trinity, Kyleigh, Alana, Alexander, Elijah, Audrey, Zuri and Ella. Zelia was also the sister of Joseph Andrade of Berkley, Olga Almeida of Freetown, Herman Andrade, Eusebio Andrade, Michael Andrade, Donna Gomes and Lucy Heroux all of Taunton.

All funeral services were held privately at the Silva Funeral Home of Taunton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made in Zelia’s memory may be made to her favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
