Obituary

Joao Aguiar Almeida, 79, of Taunton, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at Morton Hospital. He was the loving husband of Maria L. (Silva) Almeida, for fifty six years.

Born in Ginetes, Azores, Portugal, he was the son of the late Fernando L. and Maria (Aguiar) Almeida.

He worked as a machine operator foreman for Bab’s Foundry for forty years. Mr. Almeida was a communicant of Annunciation of the Lord Church in Taunton

Joao enjoyed working outside, keeping busy in his garage, camping, especially at K.O.A in Middleboro. He was meticulous and very well organized. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His great grandchildren brought a new joy into his life and he fought very hard to be there to watch them grow. Joao shared a special bond with each of his grand children that will always be cherished in their hearts. He also loved taking pictures of everything and everyone and that leaves his family such amazing great memories.

Besides his wife Maria, he leaves his son, Fernando Almeida, and his wife Janet, of Taunton; two sisters, Conceição “Connie” Goulart and Eduarda Duarte, both of Taunton; two grandchildren, Victoria Almeida Barreiro, and her husband, Kevin and Christina Almeida; two great grandchildren, Alexander Almeida Barreiro and Bria Christina Barreiro, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Margarida Almeida.

Due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) C.D.C and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts guidelines, Joao’s funeral services and interment will be private for his immediate family. A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date. An obituary for Joao will be published closer to when the date is determined.
