Obituary

Lorraine K. Mendes (Rose) 87, of Dighton, passed away on January 29, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving wife of Antone Mendes, Jr. married for sixty five years.

Born in Dighton, she was the daughter of the late Antone F. and Mary F. (Rose) Rose.

She worked in retail management for many years and also worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for several years.

We had to say goodbye to our mother who delivered so much love to all her children and grandchildren .

A selfless woman who always thought of her children / grandchildren , never herself.

She will be missed deeply by all her children and so many others.

It is so hard to lose someone so close and loving! The matriarch of our family!

Our hearts are broken and our Mother’s passing leaves a void that will never be filled !

We have nothing but wonderful times to cherish growing up in a close knit family created by our parents.

We have been so fortunate!

Our mother was a talented writer who has written / illustrated a wonderful book Titled The Farm on Elm Street ( Registered with the library of Congress ) detailing a hard but wonderful and loving life growing up and many beautiful poems .

As talented as  our mother was nothing can compare to her love and the love we have for her!

She also loved art, writing poems ,singing, sledding, and taught Sunday school. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren , family and friends.

Besides her husband Antone, she leaves her children, Antonette Burt, Randon Mendes, Gary Mendes, Holly Lebeau, Greg Mendes, and Mary Lawler; Son & Daughter in laws; Jeffrey Burt, Kara Mendes, Randy Lebeau, Amy Mendes & Tom Lawler; eighteen grandchildren, Tara Burt, Nicole Burt, Katie Burt, Brandon Mendes, Amanda Teixeira, Kristen Chickering, Cody Mendes, Emily Mendes, Sarah Mendes, Cloee Brandon, Randy Lebeau, Craig Lebeau, Antone Mendes, Kori Mendes, Danielle Miller, Avery Nolette, Andrea Lawler, and Emma Lawler; fourteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; a sister, Millie Ekstrom; and many nieces and nephews, Mrs. Mendes was the sister of the late Alice Munday, Madeline Byers, Ethel Weedon, Florence Ferrie, and Elsie Parham.
