Manuel C. Mendonca, Jr, age 55 of Taunton, passed away on April 25, 2021 at his home.
Manny was born in Pawtucket, RI, the son of Elizabeth (Hudson) Slattery of Taunton and the late Manuel C. Mendonca, Sr.
Manny had a big heart and a kind soul and loved to make people laugh. He was strong and devoted to his Christian faith and enjoyed reading and studying about eastern religions and traditions. He was an avid New England sports fan, especially the Red Sox and enjoyed listening to music and attending live music events with his many friends. Manny also loved fishing, raising show rabbits, spending time with his family and bringing his three beloved Golden Retrievers, Buddy, Dakota, and Shelby swimming at the pond.
Besides his beloved mother Elizabeth and her husband Timothy, Manny is survived by a brother: Dean Mendonca and his late wife Kathleen and his sister Lianne Mendonca and her husband Jason. Manny is also survived by several aunts and uncles: Bernadette Ferri and her husband Robert, Thomas Hudson and Bernard Hudson and his wife Noi. He was also the beloved uncle (TT) to Hannah Cromwell, Megan Mendonca and Ryan Mendonca.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 from 4 to 7pm with a service beginning at 7pm in the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts made to the Taunton Animal Shelter 821 West Water Street Taunton, MA 02780 in Manny’s memory, would be deeply appreciated.
A grave-side prayer service will be held on Wednesday, April 28th at 10 am in Saint Joseph Cemetery 475 East Britannia Street, Taunton. Relatives and friends may gather at the main entrance of the cemetery at 9:45am.
During all services facial coverings and social distancing will be required.
