David F. Terry

David F. Terry, age 70 of Taunton, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2026, at his home.

Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late Franklin and Evelyn (Rose) Terry.

David had a career as a road paver, laying the asphalt that people drove on every day, often without a thought for who built it. It was hard work, and he did it his whole life.

His heart, though, was in collecting. He had a gift for spotting treasures others overlooked, and he was always searching for antiques and pieces from a bygone era. His collection was wonderfully varied, and every item in it had a story. He was also an avid Star Trek fan, with a lifelong love of science fiction and fantasy that included Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings. A devoted New England sports fan, he followed his teams through every season.

In his younger years, he treasured family gatherings and enjoyed time out fishing. In later years, nothing brought him more joy than his grandchildren, and the time he spent with them was among the great delights of his life.

He is survived by his daughter Leia Yu and her husband Justin; his grandson Ronin; his cherished honorary grandchildren Parker, Edward, Teegan, and Aria; siblings John Terry and his wife Joyce, Eugene Terry, Francis Terry, and Kathleen Terry; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Wayne Terry.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square), Taunton.

Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.
