Thomas Norman O'Grady

Thomas O’Grady, age 79, of Salem, NH formerly of Taunton passed away on Oct 4th, 2026.

He was the beloved husband of the late Phyllis (Amaral) O’Grady who passed in 2022.

Thomas was born in New York City, NY the son of the late Philip and Elvera (Raider) O’Grady Jr.

Growing up in Lower East Side of NYC, Tom was immersed in culture, foods and a little mischief with his brothers.

He joined the Air Force in 1968 and was stationed at Otis Air Force Base Cape Cod where he met Phyllis. They were married in 1968. While he was in the service, son Daniel was born in 1969 and daughter Lauren in Oct the following year making them “Irish Twins.”

Mr. O’Grady earned his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering at Southeastern Massachusetts University. He retired after many years of testing missiles at Textron. Before retirement he took classes in brewing and had his own signature beer straight from his basement brew room.

He enjoyed attending Irish festivals with Phyllis and hanging out at the Hibernian Pub enjoying Irish music and Irish beer with friends. His favorite time of the year was going to the “Highland Games” at Loon Mountain with Phyllis to celebrate their Anniversary.

Thomas is survived by his loving children Daniel O’Grady of Salem NH and Lauren (O’Grady) and Don Anderson of Brandon, FL. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephew, Tammy (O’Grady) and Kirk Thompson, Elizabeth (O’Grady) and Joseph Catania, Patricia Ann O’Grady, Michael O’Grady, Judith (O’Grady) and Jeffrey Lindo. He has many loving great nieces and nephews, Glorianne (O’Grady) Frank Roder, Cassandra Brick, Dia Catania, Joseph and Stephanie Catania, Robin (Skelly) and Jacob Anderson, Joshua and Chyanne Lindo. He was also a brother to the late Philip O’Grady III, Robert O’Grady, James O’Grady Sr., Frank O’Grady and the late Lillian Jaeger. With Lauren’s marriage to Don, he became grandfather to Jeremy Anderson and great-grandfather to Draco and Onika Anderson

His funeral with visitation will be held on Friday, October 16,2026. The wake will be from 10:00 am with service to begin at 11:00 am at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, Mass. 

Following the service we will proceed to The Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne for interment with military honors.
